The views from our room were amazing, especially over the gorge and the charming hanging houses. With large, comfy rooms and a central location, we enjoyed exploring Cuenca with my sister easily. The staff were friendly.
My wife says that more breakfast options would be great for families.

the hotel was ideal and the staff helpful, incredible location to cuenca valley. location: the venue was just off the bridge and convent, the center of the old town and main plaza in front of the cathedral. it was just a walking distance from figon del huecar, where you can have lunch.

Does it deliver?
The location is just fabulous the staff were friendly and accommodating. Our room had two balconies with magnificent views.
The hotel has a lot of stairs and the quirky nature of the rooms might not suit everyone. Some features felt quite dated and lacked modern convenience.

Great location. Apartment was spacious and had good views.
I had two issues with the Posada San Jose. 1. It was not clear from the materials at Booked.net that the apartment was in a separate building down the street, not the restored monestary in the pictures. 2. Also, the kitchen in the apartment was dirty (some sticky spilled liquid in the silverware drawer, cutting board not washed...), and staff was not responsive to our comments about it - they called the cleaning woman who said it had been cleaned, and that was the end of it.

Location was excellent in the old town. View from the restaurant was fantastic -- and highly recommend the food, which was also a good value / delicious local specialties. The management/reception was very hospitable and let us use their internet connection to check our flights and print out boarding passes.
I was disappointed with the location of our room, which had no view and was quite dark, although otherwise comfortable. Be sure to ask for a view either of the garden or the gorge (higher price rooms). I have come to the conclusion that the better rooms in Spanish hotels are ones with twin beds, rather than double, so don't insist on a double bed.

The location is just fabulous, right near all the sights! The charming old building gives you amazing views. Oh, and those lovely mountain views from my room were to die for!
The mattresses reminded me of sleeping on bricks! I could've sworn the coffee was brewed by someone who didn't really like coffee.

The room was elegantly, indeed stylishly, furnished and the location of the hotel excellent. We had stayed there twice before. They were very helpful at reception and, though parking outside the hotel is very limited, they do offer a discount at the nearby underground car park.

Our room had amazing views of the gorge and a cozy balcony. The breakfast was decent at a great price, and the restaurant served delicious food with gorgeous views. The only downside was the hard bed, but it didn't ruin our visit!

The location of the hotel was absolutely fantastic - our main reason for choosing it for our overnight stay. We had a room with a wonderful view of the hanging houses of Cuenca. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The bedrooms are very much inkeeping with the age and type of hotel, but are rather basic.
Our only complaint was that breakfast did not start at the supposed time of 8am - as we had a very long day ahead travelling, we were unable to wait for it to commence.

A very special hotel in a fabulous location in the heart of Cuenca. Our room had a private terrace with terrific views of the Hueca valley and the imposing parador on the hilltop opposite. The restaurant was closed the day we visited (Monday) so I cannot comment on the food but there are several excellent places to eat within 2 minutes walk.
